How to Prepare for A Dance Audition
Preparing for a dance audition can be a stressful event, especially if
this is your first time trying out for a part. Even some of the best
dancers fail because they either get discouraged when they are turned
down, or cannot perform in front of an audience with little preparation.
It is important to prepare well in advance for a dance audition to get
your mind and body ready for it, even if you do not know what you will
be performing yet.

If you are not currently enrolled in dance lessons, now would be the
time to start. It always helps to have a dance coach help you along the
way to prepare you physically and mentally. They should be knowledgeable
in dance auditions to be able to help you understand what to expect the
day of the audition. Typically, you will arrive early in the morning,
learn the routine in a couple of hours, and then you will be expected to
perform the dance in an audition. You usually do not have a lot of time
for practice.
Carefully look over the expectations for this role. They may be looking
for someone of a certain gender, or even a certain height. Do not try to
audition for a part that you would not be qualified for as this will
only get you rejected and even more discouraged. If it is something that
you think you would be good for, then it is time to get signed up and
prepare for the dance audition.

Make sure that you eat a good breakfast the morning before the audition.
As silly and simple as it may sound, this is important so that you can
stay focused on your audition. The dance audition may take a long time,
and they can last for several hours, so you want to make sure that you
eat a healthy meal before you arrive. You will also want to pack bottled
water with you on your audition so that you can quench your thirst.
Talk to others who have been on dance auditions in your local area
before. They will be able to tell you what to expect, or even what that
particular casting crew is like. The more knowledge you have about the
audition before you arrive will only help you be stronger and more
successful during the actual audition. It is important to be prepare and
know what to expect before the day of the audition.
There are a lot of things that you can do to prepare for a dance
audition. If you can focus your mind and be physically and emotionally
prepare, you can be quite successful.
